Rupert Egerton-Smith, who is an award-winning pianist and composer performed for us on behalf of The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust.
Rupert played his ‘Evolve’ recital programme including works by Rameau, Chopin (B minor Sonata Op.58), Debussy, Ravel, Rachmaninov and Gershwin.
The recital represented a journey through the development of piano composition from Baroque to Jazz.
Rupert Egerton-Smith has a varied concert career which has included performances in Carnegie Hall, Paris’ Salle Gaveau, London clubs and Lebanese palaces. Over 1500 people attended his recital of the Bach-Busoni Chaconne and Chopin B minor sonata at the Berlin Philharmonie. France 2 broadcast his live performances of Scarlatti sonatas and Balakirev’s Islamey. Of his debut recording, the UK Daily Telegraph wrote, “the sheer technical accomplishment in Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit is stunning and the real strength of the disc.” He won 1st prize in the Bradshaw and Bouno piano competition and was appointed Artist-in-Residence with the Orchestra of St. John’s conducted by John Lubbock OBE in 2022 with whom he has recently performed Grieg’s Piano Concerto and Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.
As a composer, Rupert has written for BBC and Channel 4 documentaries, short films and is currently scoring a number of film and documentary projects.
He collaborates with music agencies internationally and is a member of the music agency Syn World’s creative team.
